The Minneapolis Plumbers JJATC will be taking applications for both the Minneapolis and St Cloud apprenticeship programs February 25 – March 8, 2019, 8:00 am – 3:30 Monday – Friday, at the Plumbing Technology Center located on the NE corner of the Dunwoody College of Technology campus. Applications must be filled out in person. Please bring a copy of your high school diploma or GED.

Q: Can I come in and apply any time during the year?
No, we take applications once a year, typically during the first two weeks of March – depending on the calendar year it may begin during the last few days of February.
Q: Can I get an application mailed to me?
No, you must sign in and fill out the application in person.
Q: What if I can’t find my high school diploma or GED?
You can usually contact your school and obtain a copy of your transcripts.
Q: What is the Basic Skills Test?
This is a math test at a high school level.
Q: When can I take the Basic Skills Test?
Once you’ve completed your application you will set up a time and date to take the test. Your application packet will give you further instructions, including the deadline that the test must be completed by.
Q: Can I retest if I don’t do well?
You can only take the test once during the application period. All applicants will be notified within two weeks after the application and testing process is completed.
Q: Is there a sample test I can practice with?
No, this is a basic skills test. However you may want to review basic algebra skills such as fractions.
Q: I see you have schools in two locations. Can I apply at both? What if one location is more convenient for me?
We take applications for both programs at the Plumbing Technology Building located on the Dunwoody Campus in Minneapolis. You will also be interviewed there. You can apply and interview for only one of the program locations. You will be ranked according to your scores for that location, and if placed out to work, you would attend school at that location.
Q: What are the related training classes?
The classes are held in the evening starting in September and running through April each year. You typically have class two nights a week, starting at 5:00 pm and lasting 3.5 to 4 hours each night.
Q: What are the qualifications to apply for the plumbers’ apprenticeship program?
You need to be 17 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
Q: What if I am a high school senior and haven’t graduated yet or I’m not 18?
You would need to provide us with your diploma or GED by June 15. According to Minnesota law no one under the age of 18 can work in the construction industry.
